THE PROJECT

The Food Times project aims to provide a comprehensive framework for promoting access to safe food, water and healthy diets for all individuals, within fair and sustainable agri-food systems.
Policy. Absolute independence, scientific approach (with references to legislation and bibliography in the notes to the articles), in-depth analysis and critical notes in relation to each topic.
Sponsors. Sponsors selected for their organisations’ compliance with the strictest sustainability criteria can be accepted, under approval of the editorial board. There are no banners or pop-ups to allow undisturbed consultation of the website.
Food Times website is structured as simply as it is. In-depth studies on various topics can be carried out by means of keyword searches. Below are some possible search matrices.

WHO WE ARE

FOOD TIMES trademark was registered in 2012 by WIISE (Workable Ideas and Initiatives for a Sustainable Economy) benefit, which financed the development of its website and still offers its editorial contents, so far more than 4,500 articles originally published on the GIFT www.greatitalianfoodtrade.it and FARE www.foodagriculturerequirements.com websites. WIISE benefit, founded in the same year by Dario Dongo, food lawyer with Ph.D. in agri-food system, operates in the following sectors:
-research projects contributions – in the strategic, regulatory and communication areas, as well as by providing blockchain technologies, within the Horizon and PRIMA (Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area) framework programs,
-strategic, technical and legal consultancy to industries and SMEs in the agricultural and food sectors, retail, consumer and sector associations,
-training for public bodies (regulators, universities) and private bodies (trade and consumer associations), at European and international level. Dario Dongo has around 250 seminars, conferences and lectures to his credit,
-independent publishing, through the two web portals GIFT and FARE. Both websites are AI-translated in 9 languages, from Italian, and also publish free downloadable ebooks on topics related to food, food policies and regulations (i.e. food safety, food quality, GMOs and pesticides, consumer information, food culture),
-lobbying and grassroots advocacy, at European and national level, in favour of economic operators and non-profit organisations, citizens and their categories, only for initiatives that meet the criteria of sustainable development and common good to which Wiise’s work is guided.
The WIISE ecosystem includes:
-WIISE Chain www.greatitalianfoodtrade.store, innovative startup, dedicated to the implementation of interoperable blockchain solutions, based on open-source software such as the BitCoin protocol and Open Time Stamps,
ÉGALITÉ no-profit association www.egalite.org, founded in 2019 with the aim to raise awareness on inequalities, fundamental human rights and sustainable development. With particular attention to access to food, health, poverty and the rights of persons with disabilities. Égalité is also engaged in various projects dedicated to the empowerment of disadvantaged communities, either because of poverty and physical, neurological, sensorial impairment.

VALUES

We firmly believe in the need to provide all human beings with safe and nutritious food, clean water and sanitation, as the first ever human rights to be accomplished on the planet.

Multilateral cooperation on food and land sovereignty, capacity building, research and innovation is the basic condition to make this happen, by (re-)projecting agri-food systems with due regard to

-human health and well-being,
-workers’ and local communities’ rights,
-consumers’ rights of informed choices,
-animal health and welfare,
-biodiversity and ecosystems protection’.
